Cecil Bartholomew

Born in Trinidad of Grenadian parentage, and spent formative years in Grenada. Returning to Trinidad during teen years provided valuable exposure that made playing and performing a life long pursuit.
After immigrating to the United States, Mr. Bartholomew began formal study of the guitar under the influence of masters such as Laurindo Almieda, and jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell. This experience paved the way to many studio opportunities for visiting artist as a back-up guitarist. Although classically trained, Jazz became the main thrust at the time, and Mr. Bartholomew played with jazz trios and quartets in Greenwich Village New York, and surrounding States.

In the 80’s and 90’s Mr. Bartholomew was launched on the International scene. Gloucestershire England was the first stop, where a solo performance was rendered in the local Cathedral. Soon other performances occurred in Holland, Germany, France, and Australia. During that time a classical solo album was sold worldwide.

Before coming to Grenada, Mr. Bartholomew led a tropical jazz band- Akasa, in which he played the double tenor steel pan in addition to composing and arranging the music.

Mr. Bartholomew has brought the same passion for the instrument, and music to the Tropical Fusion band Quiet Fire; and plays solo performances at DeVino’s, and weekly performances at La Source, and other selective venues.
