May 2011 Newsletter

Welcome to the Seales School of Music and Performing Arts newsletter for May. What a busy and rewarding month it was!

We are once again proud to be able to congratulate several of our students on the successful completion of their world-recognised ABRSM music qualifications: Renisha Pivott, Kennedy Morgan, Ama Redhead, and Mercia Joseph all achieved the highest mark of ‘distinction’ in their Grade 1 Theory exams.

Further congratulations are in order for the eight students who participated in our new Easy Guitar class, which is taught by the talented Mr Nico Bresciani (who is better known throughout the Caribbean by his stage name of ‘Barracuda’). The class ran from October 2010 until the start of June 2011, and the students can now build on their solid foundations by progressing to the intermediate guitar course.

We will be holding a graduation ceremony on 9 July for all our successful students, where they will be presented with their well-earned certificates. A Grand Gala event to showcase the developing expertise and creativity of our students is also planned in the near future—stay tuned for further information!

The summer holidays are almost here and many of you will be looking for constructive extra-curricular activities for your children. This year our annual four-week summer camp, catering for those aged between nine and 12, will commence on Monday, 4 July. The camp offers a fun and character-building programme of courses for piano and keyboard, guitar, drums, vocals, and other creative arts that are designed to unlock your child’s creativity. Following the great success of previous years the limited spaces on the summer camp are expected to be filled quickly—so book early to avoid disappointment.

For those of you who are looking to devote a little more time to studying a musical instrument, the Seales School of Music and Performing Arts offers a variety of courses at affordable prices. You can learn to play the drums, guitar, saxophone, piano/keyboard, steel pan, and perfect your singing with our voice-training workshop. All of our courses are taught by well-educated and experienced music tutors. Everyone studying at our school, regardless of age, is provided with the opportunity to sit accredited qualifications from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Signing up for these courses is easy: just drop by the school, call us on the telephone, or send us an email.

The 2011 Miss St George’s Queen Show, held on 7 May at the GBSS auditorium, was part sponsored by the Seales School of Music and Performing Arts. We are pleased to congratulate the winner, Miss Cherrie Jones, who receives a one-year scholarship to study music with us.

The Seales School of Music and Performing Arts also sponsored Jazz it Grenada, which took place on 4 June at the Botanical Gardens. In recognition of their efforts, six-month scholarships were awarded to the most promising students. The lucky winners are now able to develop their musical studies with our committed tutors for free.
