Early Years Music Education

Tots & Tunes (ages 1-2 with adult):

Toddlers are constantly exploring and learning about the world around them,
and every moment is one of discovery.
Tots & Tunes guides toddlers toward
their budding independence while nurturing the parent‐child bond, all through music - making and movement‐based activities.
Your daughter or son will have the opportunity to engage in vocal play, explore the sounds and physical characteristics of instruments, imitate rhythms, and develop language skills. Tots & Tunes provides quality time with your child, social time with other parents and children, and helps to foster and enhance your son or daughter’s complete overall development, all while having fun!).

ABC, Make Music with Me (ages 3-5):
Let your child discover the joys of music through creative play and imaginative music-making. ABC, Make Music with Me! fosters independence, self-confidence, and develops skills that prepare your son or daughter for school, all through music activities such as vocal development, storytelling, focused listening, dance, and drama. This program is designed to help children develop language, sensori-motor, cognitive, and social skills.

Raise Your Voice (ages 8-12):

Come out to Raise Your Voice and share your love of singing with us! Students will discover the joys of singing through the development of musical skills such as musicality, phrasing, diction, ear training, music reading, breath control, and music appreciation. Songs will be chosen to represent a variety of styles and languages.

Seales School of Music
Welcomes New Tutor

The Seales School of Music is pleased to announce that Danielle Sirek, an early years music specialist from Toronto, Canada, will be joining their team of tutors for the 2010‐
2011 school year.
Danielle completed her undergraduate degree in voice at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, and her Master’s degree in Music Education at the University
of Toronto. She is currently completing her PhD at Newcastle University in the United Kingdom. Danielle has a wealth of experience teaching children and adults both at home and abroad.
In addition to her teaching experience, Danielle has performed extensively as a classically trained soprano in Canada and the United Kingdom. She is excited to become engaged with the music community in Grenada. Danielle will be teaching early year’s music classes for children ages 1‐7, voice training and world rhythms classes for children ages 8‐12, and singing & songwriting classes for teenagers and adults.

Music & Motion (ages 5-7):

Music in Motion caters to children ages 5-7,
giving students an opportunity to develop musical skills through music- and movement based activities. The program
is designed to help children learn singing techniques, move expressively to music, develop focused listening skills, and explore musical instruments. Students will also learn basic music notation and foundational skills to help them progress
to formal music lessons, as well as age-appropriate cognitive, social, and language skills.

Rhythms from Around the World (ages 8
12):
Students will have fun discovering music from many countries of the world, including the music of Japan, India, South Africa, Brazil, and more. Rhythms from Around the World promotes cultural understanding, musical skills such as percussion, singing, and dance, and promotes the development of language, social, and cognitive skill.

Pop star! (Ages 13+):

Have you ever wanted to be a pop star?
Considering trying out for Grenadian Idol? Then
this singing & songwriting course is for you!
Come and learn the art of composing and performing in a variety of popular styles including pop, rock, rap, soca, and more. The program will cater to the styles you like and the skills you want to learn, including writing music, stage presence, marketing yourself, and performance.
